SME Profile: Canada Small Business Financing Program Borrowers, March 2016
Small Business, Tourism and Marketplace Services
The CSBFP is a loan-loss sharing program which allows financial institutions to share the risk of lending to small and medium-sized enterprises with the Government of Canada. This report profiles the general characteristics of Canada Small Business Financing Program (CSBFP) borrowers, and compares them to the characteristics of non-CSBFP borrowers. The report found that CSBFP borrowers are more growth-oriented, innovative, reliant on cash to grow their business, and likely to be at the start-up stage of development.
