An automotive giant now manufactures medical grade surgical masks.

Voiceover: When COVID-19 hit Canada, many companies approached the Government of Canada and asked, "How can we help?" General Motors Canada was one of them.

Voiceover: The Government of Canada contracted GM Canada to provide 10 million masks at cost. By the middle of May 2020,

Voiceover: GM Canada's Oshawa Operations plant was ready to produce masks to help in the fight against COVID-19. The company sourced materials, built a mask making clean room with enhanced safety protocols, installed equipment and, in partnership with Unifor, called back and retrained 60 workers. By September 2020, GM Canada produced an incredible 3 million face coverings – what a milestone!
