Teaching approach:

  • Inspire students of all levels of ability to seek the possibilities open to them.
  • Do it by bringing an ample combination of humour, creativity and a sense of exploration to the classroom.
  • Provide students with a wide range of learning experiences through the use of computer technology and teaching methods that foster high-level thinking skills.

Outstanding achievements:

Fostered a resurgence of geography as a course subject by infusing it with information technology.

Organized and delivered a highly successful program to upgrade the computer skills of all faculty; conducted continuing workshops on computer software, from database, spreadsheet and graphing tools, to telecommunications, multimedia and desktop publishing.

Conducted workshops for geography teachers across Peterborough County, developing curricula and introducing specialized applications such as simulation and geographic information system (GIS) software. Created an innovative GIS lab for students.

Four of Mr. Kendall's students have placed first in the country in the Royal Canadian Geographical Society's High School Essay Writing Contest, and two others have received honourable mention.
