  • Leadership means listening, listening when students criticize their teacher, when parents talk about their hopes and fears for their children, when students are not getting along.
  • Share authority with parents and students who have good ideas.
  • Support and encourage change.

Outstanding achievements:

He and his students wrote and performed 11 original plays during his five-and-a-half years at False Bay School. For these ambitious productions, the students created characters, wrote scripts and learned the craft of theatre.

They also produced two Shakespeare plays – a rock and roll musical version of Midsummer Night's Dream and a science fiction version of The Tempest.

Worked with elders of the Tsmshian community to develop materials to teach young members of the band their native language.

Is involved in the creation of a computer-based initiative called "Islands in Time." This project will link students on six small islands around the world.

Has built connections with private and public sector sponsors to support school programs.
