White space refers to portions of television broadcast spectrum that is not being used in particular areas of Canada. In 2015, the government enabled access to this spectrum in support of innovative technologies without impacting existing users. The first application currently envisaged for white space is providing wireless broadband connectivity for Canadians living in rural and remote regions.
