Subject: Canada Gazette DGTP-005-05: 4.9 GHz Consultation Request for Extension of Comment Period

Dear Mr. Shaw:

The Radio Advisory Board of Canada requests that the comment period for DGTP-005-05 be extended by 21 days, to October 28, 2005.

The Board has struck a Working Group of its Public Safety Sub-committee to prepare the Board's response, and that group has begun work.

Annually, the Public Safety Sub-committee meets in conjunction with APCO Canada's annual conference, which will be held this year on October 6, 2005 just one day before the response is due. APCO Canada is one of the major public safety groups in Canada and the RABC would welcome the opportunity to have a broad cross section of APCO's members hear about and discuss the Board's response prior to submission. This is best accomplished at the APCO Canada conference.

RABC responses must be approved by the Executive and then balloted by sponsor members before they are sent to the Department - a process which requires about two weeks - hence the request for a 21 days extension.

Yours truly,

E.R. (Ted) Campbell
General Manager
