Notice Regarding Spectrum Licences in the 2500 MHz Band

Posted on Industry Canada website: December 4, 2013 (Updated)

In Canada Gazette Notice DGSO-004-12, Consultation on a Licensing Framework for Broadband Radio Service (BRS) — 2500 MHz Band, Industry Canada announced that licensees planning to return any of their existing 2500 MHz spectrum licence holdings to Industry Canada must do so by October 4, 2013 in order to increase their eligibility to bid in the related licence areas.

On October 3, 2013, the Department issued a notice extending this deadline until December 4, 2013.

Industry Canada has received further requests for an extension to the deadline for the return of spectrum licences and has determined that an extension to 60 days following the publication of the 2500 MHz licensing framework should provide sufficient time to consider this option.

As a result, the revised deadline for returning spectrum licences and requesting that this be factored into the licensee's eligibility for participating in the auction will be 60 calendar days after the publication of the 2500 MHz licensing framework.
