2500 Mhz Auction

(Music up)

(The video shows an Industry Canada employee host—a woman against a white backdrop.)

Host on camera: The Government of Canada has announced the results of the 2500 MHz spectrum auction.

What will that mean for your cell service?

How might this improve Internet services in rural areas?

And what is 2500 MHz spectrum anyway?

That is what you need to know.

(A title screen appears. It contains a photo of the Centre Block of Canada's Parliament Buildings. The Government of Canada signature and Canada wordmark appear at the top and bottom of the screen.)

(Graphics of smartphones with phone and text icons, a tablet with an email icon and a laptop with a video play button icon surround host on camera. Curved lines begin to travel outward from each image to indicate that the devices are sending data)

Host on camera: Phone calls, text, email and video on your smartphone or laptop all travel through the air on what's called spectrum.

And with more and more of us sending more and more data, we need to make more spectrum available.

So that's why we held an auction for this spectrum so it can be used to benefit you.

Each band of spectrum has unique properties.

(A video on screen shows a woman sitting on the grass with a laptop and phone)

The 2500 MHz band means Canadians in rural areas could soon have more options for wireless Internet service to their homes.

(A new video appears of a man and woman leaning against a car and using a tablet on a busy city street)

2500 MHz also means that those of us living in cities will enjoy faster downloads, streaming and more on our mobile devices.

(We return to the host on screen)

Bottom line: Having more spectrum means better service for all of us.
